A Fascinating Tale Well-Told
In The Lack Brothers, Malcolm McKay has created a fascinating world with a mysterious and intriguing plot, and memorable characters full of wit and wisdom, humor and humanity. The story is inventive, the dialogue and description poignant. It is laced with memorable and even poetic passages. Mr. McKay sheds light on a group of rather ordinary, if not downright undesirable characters, revealing the humanity that lies within each of them. Anyone who reads this page-turner will certainly come away from it with a subtle message of hope, and a great store of unforgettable images. It is well-written, exciting, and I heartily recommend it.
Strange evocation of '50s Soho
This is a very strange book - at first the "angels" annoyed me and I wasn't sure that author knew where he was going - but it works! A great (and in places very sad) story, but I read it over a year ago and it is still in my mind....
It's difficult to describe, but, if nothing else, it's a rattling good yarn! The characters are well drawn and the jokes are good ...
It's - how can I say it ? - SATISFYING.
PS My partner liked it too.( And he doesn't, often. Like the books, I mean.)
