Evocative dark age story
One of the only books which really feels like it is set
in that little known era after the romans left.
While the author may be 100 years out - ie the events
are reckoned at 600 ad according to most scholars he gets into the dark age mindset remarkably well - the britons describe themselves as romans are christians and call the saxons savages.
For all its great reading cornwells books arent a patch on this for feel and colorful characters.
