About the Author
Mavis Cheek was born and educated in Wimbledon. She worked for Editions Alecto, the art publishers, for twelve years before becoming a mature student at Hillcroft College for Women where she graduated in Arts with Distinction. She now lives with her daughter in West London. Her short stories and articles have appeared in various publications and does as much travel writing as time and opportunity permit. Her first novel, PAUSE BETWEEN ACTS, won the John Menzies/She Magazine Literary Award for 1988.

A gem from Mavis
Although this book may not appeal to the ardent dog lover, I suspect it will strike a chord with most of the rest of us.
It's a gem of a book which will make a long journey fly by and I wouldn't be surprised if you laugh out loud once or twice along the way too.
