Customer Reviews

Be Sure to Read This5
Victoria Corby is a genius. OK, well, maybe she's not Hemingway or Dickens, but she can write a light, funny story better than most. It's not that easy to do - I've read through some horrible efforts, but both of VC's that I've read have been great. I started out with Seven Week Itch and backtracked to Something Stupid. Both are wonderful books - great if you need a lift, something fun to read. Highly recommended.

A good laugh4
I am becoming something of an expert in the ChickLit genre and consider this book as being one of the better examples. Good plot, great characters and best of all, decent writing. Not going to win the whitbread, but then that's not why we read it. Grab hold and while away a fun couple of hours.

Sparkling, refreshing chicklit5
Something Stupid, Victoria Corby's first novel, is funny, refreshing and believable--a wonderful comfort read. Right from page one, as VC plunges the reader headlong into the (mis)adventures of the heroine, Laura, I found myself empathizing with and rooting for the likeable, generous and funny Laura. My one complaint with Something Stupid is that Laura's love interest, her ex-stepbrother James, seems to take her just a tad too much for granted, even at the end. As much as I loved Something Stupid, I adored VC's next two novels, Seven-Week Itch and Up to No Good, even more. I just wish she would write a lot faster!
