Sea-Cat lives at the bottom of the sea with his mother. And his mother loves him very much. In order to keep him warm and dry, Mother Cat knits Sea-Cat the most beautiful clothes and soon Sea-Cat comes to the attention of the rather grim and grey Dragon King. He wants to be as beautiful as Sea-Cat. He wants to have such fine clothes. And soon a marvellous and inspired compromise is achieved. A heart-warming tale of maternal love and the strength that a child gains from the unconditional devotion that a mother can give. "This book is a small gem that willmake mothers want to read it aloud.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Sea-Cat lives at the bottom of the ocean with his mother, a talented specimen who designs and makes the most beautiful jewel-encrusted clothes. The bitter, resentful Dragon King, Lord of the Ocean, also lives at the bottom of the ocean, but is ashamed of his own ugliness and becomes increasingly jealous of Sea-Cat's fine clothes. When they meet, Sea-Cat offers Dragon King a solution to his problems, and with the help of Sea-Cat's mother they make a beautiful jewelled coat that changes absolutely everything.
Sea-Cat and Dragon Kingis beautifully written with the thoughtful, quirky style that made Angela Carter an award-winning author, with glimmering, shimmering prose that combines classic fairy-tale ideals with contemporary twists.
This lovely, lovely book, with its delicate black and white line drawings adding further ripples of interest is ideal for young readers who are just starting to read alone, but is really at its best when read out loud. --Susan Harrison

An enchanting undersea story
I loved this story with its enchanting words and lovely illustrations. Sea-cat lives at the bottom of the ocean with his loving mother. Though Dragon King rules the ocean he is sad and lonely. He lives alone in his palace which is the skeleton of a whale because he is ashamed of being so ugly. When he captures the beautiful sea-cat with his shimmering cat suit everything changes. The illustrations are marvellous
I went to Kinston university with the illustrator of this book, the very talented Eva! Her beautifully scratchy illustrative style complements this magical story. Well done little bulgarian scribbler!
