Product Description

They were friends who shared everything - until tragedy singled one out. At the birth of their daughters best friends Rachel, Mariel and Jenny make a promise: to love and care for each other's girls exactly as they would their own. Six years later and a tragedy has torn them apart. Within weeks, Rachel has packed up and gone. Settling on the beautiful, windswept Greek island of Santorini, she knows she has come to the right place, but as she slowly rebuilds her world she can't forget the pledge she once made to her friends. She hires a private investigator, the enigmatic Johnny Palmer, and arranges for him to send regular updates on the girls she has left behind. Over the years, with Palmer's help, she is able to secretly soothe their growing pains - as well as those of their parents. But in Rachel's new island life far from home, who will be there to guide her?

since I don't have you5
A book that you don't just read- you live through. Life with all its
tragedies dramas and dilemmas. Stays with you long after you finish

Touched5
I've come to thinking one of the perks of a trip to TESCO is a quiet moment browsing the book isle (which only comes a close second to a nibble of something in the car on the way home). For a time I've felt mildly embarassed regardly this means of selecting 'literature', alas it works for me... and this is how I met Louise Candlish.

In fact, I'm sure this meeting only happened by the chance of a 'Buy two for £8' or similar offer, a chance well spent I'd say.

This is a story about friends, dear friends, with lives that mingle and divide, and its about a pact made of love and protection. I found the honesty and reality of these relationships roused emotions felt for my own close friends, and from there on in, I felt like I was wearing Rachel's shoes.

Rachel's solitary trip to Santorini gives time and space for the reader to empathise with where life is taking her, for the most part against her will. The overwhelming love, hurt, uncertainty, frailty, and spirit to evolve from being subject to them all.

I was relieved to find the reality endured through to the conclusion of the book, even when brought to tears, I'd rather have honest bitter-sweet than sugar coated.

One of the unique things about this book - given that it sits amoungst readers of lighthearted 'chick-lit' - is that it touched on things so precious, that it's stayed present in my thoughts, a reminder of the things in life worth investing in.

Fantastic!5
This is the first book I have read by Louise Candlish and it wont be the last.

I bought it for a holiday and whilst there I read it in 2 days I couldn't put it down. The 3 other women I was on holiday with also read it and loved it.

So true to life, fantastic!
