For ex-FBI profiler Pierce Quincy, it's the beginning of his worst nightmare: a car abandoned on a desolate stretch of Oregon highway, engine running, purse on the driver's seat. And his estranged wife, Rainie Conner, gone, leaving no clue to her fate. Did one of the ghosts from her troubled past finally catch up with Rainie? Or could her disappearance be the result of one of the cases they'd been working - a particularly vicious double homicide or the possible abuse of a deeply disturbed child Rainie took too close to heart? Together with his FBI agent daughter, Pierce is racing against time, frantically searching for answers to all the questions he's been afraid to ask. One man knows what happened that night - and he's already contacted the press. He wants money, he wants power, he wants celebrity. As the clock ticks, Pierce plunges headlong into the most desperate hunt of his life, into the shattering search for a killer, a lethal truth, and for the love of his life who may forever be gone.

Gone
This was a very good read giving us more insight into the characters who are already so life-like. I couldn't put it down. Thankfully it won't be too long until the next one.
The Fifth Book in the Quincy / Rainie Series
Lisa Gardner sold her first novel when she was just 20 years old. In 1993 she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in international relations. She lives in New Hampshire.
Ex. FBI profiler Pierce Quincy has seen it all, done it all and got the tee-shirt, but when his estranged wife Rainie Conner goes missing, it is the beginning of a nightmare that seems as though it is never going to end. All the authorities have to go on is an abandoned car on a desolate stretch of highway, the engine still running, a purse still in the driver's seat and Rainie gone. There are no other clues to her disappearance . . .
There are plenty of people who may wish Rainie harm, that is the nature of the cases they have done in the past. All pierce knows is that he will have to work fast if he has any chance of saving Rainie and he will do anything to get her back.
Just plain WOW!!!
Oh my god, this has to be the BEST Lisa Gardner book to date. It's so difficult to put down I was still reading at 3am!! The book is so well written you feel like you're right there with the characters. A 100% must read.
