About the Author
Laura Lockington was born in Kent but, via interludes in Cornwall, Florence and London, has now settled in Brighton. She has been married, more than once, but vows never to do it again - at least not unless too many vodka martinis prevail over her better judgement. She has had a varied career, working in TV, films, theatre and interior design, but in 1999 abandoned the rat race to write her first novel, Capers in the Sauce. She has grown out of clubbing and taken up cooking for friends instead, but is a firm believer in one's unalienable right to behave disreputably if necessary.

Stargazy Oh My Oh My Pie5
Don't let the cover put you of--it looks like a cookery book for children with special needs. But it is most assuredly not.

The central character--Poppy--leads a largely charmless life until falling under the spelling of her charming gbf (gay best friend) and his mad Cornish family. It could so easily have been twee and trite but it's not. It's genuine, heartfelt and more than a little magical.

I have about 30 pages to go and I am rationing them. I don't want it to be over. I want to swing from a chandelier in the Abbey and go to the snapper party. And you will too.

The snapper word is hagiography. Which I am afraid this is.

Stargazing, Spell binding.5
I have to say, this is a great book, total feel good nonsence, if you are after highbrow, this won't be for you, if you want to escape to a place that sounds fantastic then this is the book for you. It is set down in Cornwall, so if you are like me and loved holidays in Cornwall as a kid (and now) then this is for you, it makes you want to up sticks and look for this place, the people are warm and friendly, a little weird, very strange dress code but lovely people. The name of the book comes from a tradition in the family, very weird and not sure that I could eat it. I recommend that you have a hanky ready towards the end of the book if you are a sentimental type like myself. No faults except that I have finished reading it, and wanted more. In my way of thinking a book is a good one, when you know that you can read it again and again.........

Charming Book5
This is about the third time I've posted a review for this book - hope third time is a charm. One thing is for sure - this book is charming. Not normal chick lit - but will appeal to those who do like a bit of chick lit now and again. But if you're turned off by what's typical of that genre, don't let that hold you back from Stargazy Pie. There's a lot of magic and whimsy, and some wonderful life's lessons. Very difficult to describe the plot - let's just say that everyone finds their home at the end, whether that home is a place or person or a state of being. It's funny and very well-written - put it on your "to read" list.
