Plan B - another great read from Emily Barr
Emily Barr's books are always addictive reading and Plan B was no different I ended up reading the whole book in only a few days. Plan B is intelligent chick-lit with clever plotting and great descriptions.
Emma the main character, is living in Brighton until her partner persuades her to move to France, but once they move Emma finds out a horrible truth that turns her world upside down and you are taken along with her.
The story is both funny and sad all at the same time and Barr tells the story with her usual eye for detail which is what i love about the way she writes.
Read it Now!
Fantastic - I raced through it to find out how Emma coped. The characters and twists are great. Extremely well-written, I was there in France with her. Loved Cuban Heels, Backpack and Baggage (not so keen on Atlantic Shift). I just hope Emily Barr has another one just as good up her sleeve for publishing soon.
I'm was so sorry when I'd finished reading!
This book started off seeming like pleasant 'relocating to France' sort of chicklit with a dark side as it's sort of obvious that Matt must be having an affair. I won't spoil the plot, but when the first twist happened it left me reeling...I genuinely hadn't been expecting it. I could hardly put the book down after that. Once Emma discovers Matt's secret the description of her descent into depression is excrutiating to read. The writer must surely have lived through depression to have been able to write about it like that....every gut-wrenching, raw moment is there. Superb stuff....I felt like cheering out loud at the end. If this was made into a film, I can imagine cinemas erupting into cheers at the end!
