This is the 6th in Alex Kava's Maggie O'Dell series. Well that's what it's labelled as, even though Maggie O'Dell is only featured in about a quarter of the whole book if that. This book is a total let down, the plot is flimsy, boring and totally all over the place. There is no character development at all and it's a completely un necessary book in the series. I found the abundance of new characters quite hard to keep track of and due to the lack of reality with the characters I found them hard to care for. On the front cover there is a quote that says 'Reminiscent of Patricia Cornwell in her prime.' and let me tell you this is most definately not the case. Kava could only dream of being as good as Cornwell and I found that comment to be a huge overstatement.

When Alex Kava first hit the scene with her best book to date in the series 'A Perfect Evil' she gained alot of fans, and she earnt them. But over the years her efforts have decreased and I've grown more and more tired with her dire efforts.

I sincerly hope the next book is an improvement for I fear if it is not then I shall be hard pushed to want to continue with this ever-downward spiralling series.

Uninspiring3
This book has quite a good storyline running through it but sadly never really seems to make the most of it. It's not a particularly long book yet it took me the best part of a week to read, simply because it just wasn't one of those you want to pick up all the time. It's an ok read, but definitely lacking in excitement and thrills. The plot could have made a fantastic book but somehow it never gets going, and it all ends fairly lamely.

Brilliant!5
I cannot recommend this book enough. The best book i've read for along time. Cannot wait for the next book.
