Synopsis
Christopher Rice breaks into the mainstream with his most powerful novel to date. Obsession, fantasy and nightmare collide in a harrowingly brilliant suspense thriller from the son of the legendary Anne Rice. 25-year-old journalist Adam Murphy is chasing a career-breaking story when he is abruptly fired by the magazine that employs him. Scarred by the failure of a recent relationship, he finds himself set adrift in the city of West Hollywood, where he meets mystery novelist James Wilton, a man whose life has been marked by bestsellerdom, fame and murder. Within days of joining Wilton's personal staff, Adam learns that his former lover has vanished without a trace and that his disappearance matches several other recent missing persons cases. Adam and Wilton begin to suspect a serial killer is preying on the city's young gay men and decide to investigate. But the truth is being guarded by a diabolical force neither man could have imagined and they explore paths of vengeance, murder and sexual perversion from the mansionstrung Hollywood Hills to the drug-ravaged plains of California's Central Valley.

A Fantastic Read
I have read Christopher Rice's last two novels and was eager get my hands on his latest offering. I can assure everyone that this is just as good, if not better, than them. The plot is supremely well crafted, the characters are well detailed. A story that you can completely lose yourself in. It is a taut well paced novel with a superb ending. Christopher Rice improves novel by novel - an exceptional read!
He's done it again!
I got this book 4 days ago, and couldn't put it down. Great (albeit a bit disturbing) storyline, twists and turns just when you least expect them, wonderful prose, intriguing characters. I am depressed now, as it's back to waiting for his next book... If you liked his previous books, by all means get this one.
Another thrilling read from Rice!
This is my third Christoper Rice novel and they are all on a par with each other. Fast paced, many twists and lots of suprises, this is a thrilling read. As with the other Rice novels I have read they are perhaps too dramatic to make them totally believable but when the story is as good as this I can again forgive the author. I loved the main charachter Adam Murphy and as per usual many of the other characters are very interesting and you feel like you want to know more about them, but that helps add to the mystery.
I don't want to give anything away about the story so won't comment. I will say that like his other books once you're into it there is no way out until you have finished it and with his thrilling writing that is all too soon as I couldn't put it down!
