Synopsis
"The Fairy Chronicles" is a new series from Sourcebooks Jabberwocky. Each book introduces a new fairy with different powers and attributes whilst still keeping familiar friends in the action. The series reflects adventure and teamwork, sending a positive message to the reader, encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle and appreciation of nature. Guided only by a strange riddle given to them by an Oak Tree, Spiderwort, along the Rosemary Periwinkle and Cinnebar, have only a little while to find the Princess and get her to safety. As always the Fairies will have a little magical assistance this time from a well-meaning Scarecrow and the already ghostly Minstrel of Epic Poems. A world without simple pleasures would be unbearable and it has already started with the children of the world. If it should leave the adults as well, it might very well be gone for good. Luckily for everyone, Fairies are the best problem solvers around and Spiderwort is one of the fastest thinking of them all!!

Wonderful Story
JH Sweet weaves a wonderful story. The characters really spring to life and the story nicely moves along. I enjoyed the adventure of this tale but I also appreciate the subtler aspects. The girls are very aware of what is wrong with the world, greed and materialism, and are trying to help with fixing the problem. I love the poetry aspect of this book. Teaching children to write and appreciate poetry is wonderful. Teaching them to appreciate what they have, whether great or small, is also important. I am buying an extra copy of this to give to a greedy little girl in the hopes that she will begin to understand that "things" are not really all that important.
enjoyed it
I really enjoyed reading this. It is a good representation of a magical fairy world. The fairies could be anywhere. The scavenger hunt was a very unusual way to help break the spell to free the princess. I am buying this for a relative who likes magical fantasy books. I think it is a good one and i enjoyed it.
