Product Description

The Sheriff of Nottingham is determined to punish Robin for his defiance of authority. He holds the villagers of Locksley hostage, threatening to cut out a villager's tongue every hour until Robin is found. Robin has no choice but to give himself up to protect them. But with his gang of outlaws on his side, all is not lost...This is an action adventure read by Richard Armitage, who plays Guy of Gisborne in "Robin Hood", and featuring Robin and his loyal band of brothers, as seen in the hit BBC TV series. This exciting new adaptation of the classic tale, starring Jonas Armstrong, is crammed with action, humour, wit and romance, bringing the legendary outlaw hero to life for a whole new generation. Also included is a bonus interview with Richard Armitage, giving an exclusive behind-the-scenes account of filming for the TV series. It is a must-have for the "Robin Hood" fan.

Gisborne Voices Robin? Surely a disaster in the making......?5
This seems like a big mistake by the BBC--sure the books are great, but employing one of the actors in the actual series to read it?

But actually, it works rather well. Richard Armitage is a strong reader, and manages to grab all the tension and emotion in every moment of this fast, anger fuelled episode.

The story itself, as this is unabridged, is good and draws on points perhaps not so emphasised in the actual episode on the TV--but see my review on the book for more information.

Overall, Armitage does a good job at voicing all the characters including his own (which for non-Robin fans is Guy of Gisborne) and pulls off an enchanting piece of audiobook material. Well done!

Richard Armitage's voice4
I give 4 stars mostly because of Richard Armitage's talent. His voice gives this series its primary interest: He impersonates every character in a very effective way, adapting his changing voice to every one and gives as much feeling as he can to these somewhat basic stories. His skills as narrator are exceptional.

Let's hope he records more audio books.
