Christmas is coming, and while the bells are ringing, the tills aren't. But Sandie - the rising star of the retail spying world - is busier than ever, rooting out the best and worst in festive customer care through her company. The former Charlie's Shopping Angels are helping out, too. Glamorous widow Grazia is going undercover under the duvet at boutique hotels, in between dating a succession of toyboys and trying to remember which lie she's told about her age. Meanwhile, not-quite-yummy mummy Emily investigates the child-friendliness of the high street with the help of three-year-old Freddie, when she's not working flat out with her partner to save their fledging village shop from the un-festive credit crunch. The shoppers are back, but is the happiness they've worked so hard for, about to disappear faster than a Louis Vuitton handbag in the Harrod's sale?

Ideal for the Christmas holiday
I read 'The Secret Shopper's Revenge' and found it enjoyable so I was pleased when I saw there was a sequel. This book is even better than its predecessor in my opinion. Grazia, Sandie and Emily are two years further on from when we last saw them. Grazia is gradually coming to terms with being a widow. Emily and Will are living together with her son Fred and trying to make a living out of the Emporium. Sandie is running her own secret shopper business and living with Toby.
Their lives are about to be disrupted. In between their personal lives there are secret shopping expeditions. Grazia tries out cosmetic procedures, Emily visits Santa's Grotto in the lead up to Christmas, Sandie takes on an assistant - with mixed results. Told by all three of the women in alternate chapters together with contributions from Kelly - Sandie's assistant - this is an interesting story. There are light-hearted moments and serious subjects and the dialogue and characters are realistic. Duncan - Emily's ex-husband is a really unpleasant character; as are some of the minor characters. Dialogue is realistic and it is easy to tell the women apart without the chapter headings.
My only criticism is that I found Emily a bit too silly and self centred. Everything had to revolve round her and she seemed to forget Will's point of view. Overall though this is an enjoyable light hearted read with some excellent characters and dialogue.

I loved the first book about Secret Shopping - and this one is also funny, satifiying and I can't wait to finish it!
