Product Description

'I was eight years old when I saw my first elf.' ...And for unlikely hero Michael it wasn't his last. Michael's unfortunately (but accurately) named girlfriend Cruella, doesn't approve of his obsession with the little people, but the problem is that they won't leave him alone. And who can blame them when it is his own stepfather who is responsible for causing them so much misery. Oh yes. Daddy George knows that elves can do so much more than the gardening. Little Gem4
This is the first Tom Holt book I've read and wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I've got to be honest, it took me a little while to get into Holt's style of writing but once I'd got over that fence what was left was a good read. The story was inventive and often very funny and some of the turn of phrases are as good as you'll read. On the whole I thoroughly enjoyed it, I'm not claiming this is a masterpiece but it is certainly well worth a read if you enjoy this kind of genre.

This is the story of Mike who as an 8 year old boy saw an elf, this sighting dictated his life over the years and would eventually become a major part of it and change it in ways he could never have guessed. We follow Mike on a journey as he struggles with love, elves and his stepfather.

Very funny4
The main character is typical Tom Holt, he is odd and likeable and more stumbles into being a hero than tries to be one.
There are a lot of laughs and the pace is nice and relaxed, the ending is quite unusual too. There is a lot of jokes revolving aroung whether elves are nice or nasty and whether people are the same.
Basically, it's another Tom Holt special, if you liked his other books you'll like this one, if you haven't read his other books there is no harm starting here!

Little People3
Little people is highly original which mixes fantasy, romance/comedy. Sometimes the Tom Holt's writing is frustrating to read not quite getting to the point. But on the other hand he uses language in a way that intrigues the reader doesn't give much away, keeping the reader in suspense. Some scenes are left in full description while others leave you wondering what is going on. It is a story that is basically Mike who is good conquering his evil step Daddy George and freeing the elves. But the most disappointing aspect of the novel is terrible ending of Mike and his high school sweet-heart Cru departing their separate ways. A major let down that spoils the story especially when Tom Holt cleverly builds up this special loving relationship between these would be lovers. A happy ending was needed.
