Terrorfying
Welcome back, Doctor...
Centuries ago on the war-torn planet Skaro, a great scientist created the most evil creatures the Universe would ever know... Daleks.
It was at their genesis that the scientist, Davros, first met and was defeated by the Doctor.
Over the years and throughout space, they fought, a fight that ended with the Doctor's destruction of Skaro and the Daleks. Except...
Davros survived. Alone. In the dark. With only thoughts of revenge keeping him alive.
The Doctor is back. Davros is waiting. Their destiny is now.
A welcome return to Doctor Who for the arch-fiend and creator of The Daleks. The story continues on from Big Finish audio 'The Next Life' and is a direct sequel (for Davros) to 1988 TV story 'Remembrance of The Daleks'. The story is a great opportunity to explore the mad genius' psyche and see him duel with the Eighth Doctor for the first time.
The TARDIS crew have returned to their normal universe after the story arc that took place in the 'Divergents universe' and they are immediately confronted by The Timelord's greatest enemy.
There is plenty going on here; from The Doctor's intense verbal duelling with Davros to his companions' rollercoaster ride as they uncover another dark Dalek masterplan. There is a totally unexpected ending too, making this one of the best Dalek stories for years; on TV or audio.
"Do you remember Doctor?"
Terror Firma takes place immediately after the conclusion of The Next Life. The Doctor, Charley, and C'Rizz find themselves back on Earth except Davros and the Daleks are in charge and humans were either converted into Daleks or made second class citizens. Davros reveals to the Doctor that he has a terminal disease and he wants the Doctor to eliminate his suffering by killing him. The Doctor refuses but finds that Davros had set certain events into motion long ago that would ensure that the Doctor will do what is asked of him. The Doctor soon learns that his past catches up with his present in a way he didn't expect. Lidster, who previously penned The Rapture and Master, does an excellent job in engaging and fooling the listener. Lidster also leaves a disturbing ending that leaves the listener wondering what the Doctor will do when a certain situation comes to a head.
Total rubbish
As a big fan of Classic Who I have always been disappointed by the quality of the audio plays. Upon buying the limited edition Davros Collection DVD boxset, I came into possession of all the audio plays involving the one-eyed megalomaniac. All I can say is that Terror Firma is the worst of the lot and of any other Whovian radio plays that I have listened to.
