Product Description

Joolz Denby's fourth novel is a dark tale of dangerous infatuation, set against the idyllic backdrop of the Cornish surfing village of Polwenna. Astra Sharp has dropped out of college to look after her MS-stricken mum. She has a part time job in the cafe run by her best friend Connie, and a boyfriend who plays in a band. Life's not perfect, but it's not too bad - and if golden surfer boy Luke just noticed she existed, then maybe it would be perfect after all. Then Connie's little sister Angel shows up and everything starts to go to hell. It's not Angel's fault. After all who could blame her for being beautiful? It isn't Angel's fault if everyone falls in love with her - gorgeous Luke, boring Tim the accountant, Astra's kid sister Gita. But as Angel's stay lengthens into weeks everything in Polwenna curdles - the weather turns grey and flat and there's madness in the air. Nothing short of a storm will clear the air, but when the storm comes it brings an act of terrible violence in its wake.

Better than Cornish clotted cream5
This is a gem of a yarn about a Cornish community divided by prejudice and secrets, all in the name of friendship and familial duty. Once you pick it up you won't be able to put it down again. And if you love Cornwall you'll love this - it captures the transient nature of seasonal life really well. It's not every day a book like this comes along, read it today!

Great Find5
I heard an interview with the author on the radio and thought id pick up the book, very glad I had.

Dark Deeds In Du Maurier' s Cornwall 5
First off Im a fan of Joolz. I bought in through New Model Army & started off with vinyl, saw her live reciting poetry & with Red Sky Coven, bought her poetry then the novels.
One thing you notice with Joolz is how much she understands human nature. Non of her characters are unblemished, all are striped down & you get a taste of how chilling we humans can be.
Set in Cornwall this is the story of beauty without conscience, obsession to the point of corruption. The story of surf, sand & total loss.
Once you pick up this book, like any by Joolz, you wont put it down. It is an absolute must
