A Great Read!5
When I started to read 'The Magic Flute' for my Personal Study for English, it was hard for me to put the book down. I liked the way the character's lives are inter-connected and the storyline in it like Tam's drug taking. The ending appealed to me, how the four boy's lives turn out the way it had.
This is an excellent, thought-provoking novel and I highly recommend it.

A Contemporary Classic5
When I first read this book it was for my dissertation and I loved it, I couldn't put it down. Spence's four characters embark on four different lives. From Tam's hedonistic acid-tripping Zen-following life to Eddie at the other end of the Spectrum serving in the army in Ulster. It is an amazing book which completely captured me. The way the characters are interwoven is a sign of Spence's great talent as a writer. An astonishing book, the best I have read.
