Customer Reviews

Why so short ?3
Bill Hicks, a genius, a stand up comedian and 'preacher' of the highest calibre, his premature death a great loss. Fortunately we have some of his best performances written to CDs, VHS tapes, and now DVD. Having bought the only other dvd of his available to date (totally Bill Hicks), this dvd is a shameful disappointement. Why, is it because Hicks wasn't his usual insightful and hysterical self ? No far from it, his genius shines through, so why only 3 stars ? Because this CD is less than half an hour long that's why and contains all the jokes seen on the aforementioned DVD I played it first time through and wondered if it had a fault as it stopped so early. My advice is to buy 'totally' sit back a enjoy the ride.

One Night Stand5
This is a great half hour DVD of Bill in concert. It is so good to see him do his thing live, how he moves on stage and delivered his biting wit and comedy. This is one of the place's (the other being 'Totally Bill Hicks' which includes a documentary about his career) to go for your first outing of live Bill, the political satire is especially good and what Bill should ultimately be remembered for. Short and sweet hit of Hicks.

One of the true modern realists5
Bill's style never disappoints. His way with words may baffle some audiences, especially those with little knowledge of early 90's USA, but is a laugh a minute even for those that don't. His criticisms of everyday life are clearly marked out in a series of discussions (where he talks you listen), leaving the crowd bewildered and falling off their seats.
His feelings for the US government, the JFK assassination, (which he blames the pigeons for), and British hardcore Pornography are among some of the highlights in thsi rollercoaster of a ride through the mind of one of the greatest modern comics.
Sadly missed, cut off in his prime by cancer, and a must for all cynical people. Superb
