	The Sheltering Sky (Penguin Modern Classics) by Paul Bowles Buy new: £5.99 / Used from: £3.37 A book where every word matters and every page cuts deeper. Not much to smile about here but perfection for those who can appreciate it.
	Fictions by Jorge Borges Buy new: £5.48 / Used from: £2.23 This is THE Latin American magic and it reads like nothing else ever written.
	Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow by Peter Hoeg Buy new: £6.84 / Used from: £0.01 I love Smilla. Ignore people who say this is a thriller. It's everything but and it's great.

	Atonement by Ian McEwan Buy new: £5.57 / Used from: £0.01 McEwan should be on this list and he got it right with Atonement.
	Sophie's Choice (Vintage Classics) by William Styron Buy new: £6.97 / Used from: £4.49 No explanation necessary.
	All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque Buy new: £5.08 / Used from: £2.49 I greatly respect this book never mind Remarque's later works.
