The first time I read this, I thought it marvellously-crafted whimsy. The second time I read it, I realised it was also deeply serious. Thought-provoking and amusing.

I can remember thinking how difficult it must have been to pull off so well the magic of the title. The second half illustrates how power corrupts and how our hero must eventually face his problems.

Was the world ever really like this? I was deeply depressed after reading this book. My childhood didn't match this.

Surely I don't need to say anything about Wodehouse other than read him rather than just watch the dramatisations.

Why are children's classics "Classics"? Usually because they are great entertainment. Black Arrow was good too.
