A Big Disappointment
Usually just the end snippets of races, awful, pounding music between the races and unnecessarily lengthy introductions and commentary from Clare Balding, most of which interrupt the original commentary. Even some of the footage transfer to DVD has been done poorly- the 70s Grand National footage, for instance, looks much better on The 12 Greatest Ever Grand Nationals DVD (released 8 months later).

Overall, given the fact that the producers had the full, raw footage to play with, an extremely frustrating watch.

Horse Racing's Greatest Ever Races: I have just watched the flat races dvd and it really is a pleasure to watch especially as it is fronted by Claire Balding who really knows her racing.


With the chance to see how some fine race horses earn their stud fees. Races feature Galileo, Giant's Causeway, Cigar and many others. I particularly enjoyed watching the US racing especially the breeders cup and there is a great race with Piggot back out of retirement at 54 winning the Breeder's Cup; it is also great to see the rivalries with other horses. Five stars. Looking forward to watching the jump racing.

This has to be the best general horse racing DVD that I have ever had the pleasure to see.
