About the Author
Simon and Susan Veness are the UK's acknowledged experts on
Orlando, Florida and all things Disney, with more than 20 years' experience
of the parks and attractions. They have a mixed journalist/travel agent
background but, more importantly, they write with a real tourist's eye for
detail and value for money. They are not so much authors as friendly
holiday companions who know their subject inside out, and want their
readers to get the most out of it. They also write for a variety of
different outlets, from newspapers to magazines and the Internet, but they
remain dedicated foremost to the Brit's Guide series, founded by Simon in
1995 and now with more than 250,000 copies sold.

Just Gets Better
When the blurb says that this is an easy to use guide it, rather unusually, has it spot on.This book guides you through your trip to Orlando, the theme parks, other entertainmnet, night life and most importantly shopping (well maybe not). The focus on this being for the British Reader is excellent, with everything being described for those travelling from Britain. The reviews are fair, although, as ever, it is written from the point of view of those who love thrill rides and everything else is described as being a bit tame. All the theme parks are covered in detail, but I particularly like the way other areas of Orlando are given equal coverage. The guide to eating out is comprehensive and there is a clear guide to the malls and discount outlets. I rate this book highly and would recommend that all Brits planning a trip buy it. It is well worth it, particularly from Amazon as this is the cheapest place I have seen it.
Orlando = Brit Guide = Essential
Since my second visit to Orlando I have always bought these guides. How I wish I had discovered them for my first trip.
The guide is filled full of valuable tips and information which I have followed each time I go over there, and is suitable for the first timers as well as those fortunate to be able to go again.
It is written in such a way that makes it very easy to read and take in the facts, with a slap of humour thrown in every now and again. We all laughed at the author's description of two daring slides in one of the water parks that the author didn't dare go on.
I consider the book to be an essential bit of kit for my holidays in Orlando. Preordered this book way back in August 2004, when we booked this year's holiday and had to wait right till the end of the year for it to be published - agony! Well worth the wait though.
It covers all these areas: info on Orlando such as climate, visas, etc; how to plan your holiday, what to wear, health matters, etc; driving and car hire; accommodation; Disney theme parks; Universal theme parks; Sea World; Discovery Cove; Busch Gardens; other attractions in the area, lots of other places to go to not just theme parks; venturing further afield; nightlife; dining out; shopping; going home.
AND ALSO
an example holiday planner with the theme park's busy day guide. Now this guide alone I would pay £10 for it is invaluable. It lists the quietest days to go which makes a big difference when visiting these parks.
It is so important to plan your holiday to Orlando carefully, use this book to work out your itinery, then use the tips on how to get around each park. I cannot stress the need enough to be fully prepared for your holiday here by using this book. However, if you find it difficult to make up an itinery yourself - the author will do one for you too. There is a link in the book telling you how to order one from him and if you buy the book you only pay £10 instead of £25 which is an added benefit.
This isn't some stuffy guidebook, it is like listening to a friend tell you about his experiences of Orlando which is why it makes this the best book you can buy. Believe me I have looked at other guidebooks and nothing compares to this one.
Buy it!
Going to Orlando, don't leave home without this.
This year will be our fourth trip to Orlando, and this is the fourth edition I've bought in this series. I couldn't be without this book, especially when travelling with four children. It tells you everything you need to know about Orlando and what to do whilst there. As soon as I get the new edition I get out my highlighting pen and mark the tips I find especially relevant to our family, and what we found most helpful was the table showing the busiest and quietest days to visit all the parks, which is always right. I don't bring a novel to read by the pool, I bring this book, and have many friends who do the same.
