Customer Reviews
Extremely interesting but take it with a pinch of salt!
A fascinating examination of the derogation of femininity that sport encourages. It takes a heart-felt look at the inequalities and violent attitudes to women that are entrenched in many sports. It is an easy read and extremely interesting. However, the author takes rather a radical view and at times could be understood as taking an anti-male stance. This is not good social science, much is anecdotal, however it remains a fascinating read which will stimulate ideas in every reader.
One of the best books I have ever read!
Quite simply this is one of the best books I have ever read. It does mostly concern american sports and culture but this does not make the book any the less interesting for readers from other countries. It really provides a deep insight into the way women and men treat and view sport - and shows the level of prejudice and sexism that sadly exists just below the surface.
I was got so absorbed in this book that I read it in a day, oblivious to how sunburnt I was getting. It's amazing - buy this book!!!
