    Superb5
If you like board games this is the absolute pinacle.

The game (best played in 2 player mode but I have had some good 4 player games) is played out against the backdrop of the war for middle earth from the formation of the fellowship at Rivendell. There is an excellent system for recreating Saurons hunt for the ring which forces both players to make trade offs against the wider military campaign.

The game is very complicated to start with and has lots of pieces, cards and dice but the basic rules are mastered easily and the complexity simply adds a richness to play. The most fantastic thing about the game is the way it forces players to make crucial choices. Sauron must chose to expend resources looking for the ring bearer or to prepare and execute his military campaign. The West must choose between keeping the ring bearer safe (surrounding him with the fellowship) or using the main characters to rouse the free peoples for war. Both sets of decisions need to be finely balanced and the game grips you for hours.

If only software manufacturers could get their heads around the fact that its this type of game that keeps people awake at night then you would see much better and original gameplay on the internet.

My advice is to grab a friend, a couple of cases of beer and have a night in away from the television. This game is fantastic
