About the Author
Robert Price has held research and teaching appointments in universities in Scotland, Canada and the United States. Most of his professional life has been spent as Reader in Physical Geography at the University of Glasgow. His research in the fields of glacial geomorphology and Quaternary environments has resulted in the publication of three books and numerous papers in scientific journals. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science for his contributions to the study of glacial environments, past and present.
The first edition of this book was the product of his research interest in the origins of Scottish landscapes and their use as sites for golf courses. Over the past 15 years, Dr Price has undertaken research and consultancy projects on many aspects of Scotland's golf industry. He has acted as a consultant to companies establishing and operating new golf facilities and has produced reports on the management and marketing of Scotland's golf facilities.
Dr Price is a keen golfer, and while visiting all of Scotland's golf courses for research purposes, he has taken the opportunity to play many of them.
