Best thing you can buy
This is the second Gustbuster Umbrella I buy from Amazon. I bough the Pro Series 2 for myself, and this for a friend of mine. This is a smaller umbrella, and can be folded to be put in your bag or case. The build quality is superb, looks and feels very sturdy, and can take anything. As with the pro series, you can tell that a lot of effort has been put into the design and making of this umbrella, and it definitely stands out from the crowd, it is like nothing I have seen before. It looks very elegant and pretty as well, and certainly an eye catcher. Have tried it, and for the first time, I find an umbrella that actually does the job. Two people can easily fit under this, and still manage to escape from the rain. For the price, this is a real bargain, you will get what you paid for and more, and this will last for ever if taken good care of. Highly recommended, great quality, great shape, excellent for the rainy British weather, superb wind resistance, a real must buy.
Does a great job when it really counts, but...
When I first bought this compact umbrella I would have easily given it 5 stars without a second thought. Now that I have had it for a year or so, I can say that it is still incredibly reliable in windy conditions. Windproof? Absolutely - no problems when it is really needed to perform. However...
A couple of months into owning this umbrella one of the joint connectors popped out. I only noticed when I opened the umbrella, to find to my dismay one of the ribs sagging limply. Which meant that I ended up having to stick a paperclip in the joint to keep the rib from collapsing again. Then another connector popped. Then another one. Now half the ribs are being kept in place by paperclips! What's more, the flimsy strings that attach the top fabric to the ribs have mostly broken, so the upper canopy is very loose when folded, causing the plastic covers at the ends of the ribs to slip right off, requiring me to use blu-tack to keep them in place.
For the extravagant price I paid for this umbrella, only a year in and mine looks like it's being held together by some kind of Macgyver jury-rigging, which is not a good look. And it's not as if I've been wielding the umbrella in hurricanes or tornadoes or anything - a few gusty London days is about it. Hence only 3 stars - quality:price ratio is not great.
Tiring handle.
Took delivery just today on a wet and blustery morning.
Apart from the clever design this is a very well made article.
It's also noticeably heavier than the normal cheap compact brolly you see displayed beside gents belts and ties in a high-street department store.
The one single problem is the abominably short handle. As a previous reviewer has already mentioned it really is quite cheaply made. I could live with that if it was only 3 inches longer. As I've already ready mentioned this umbrella is heavier than the ordinary run of telescopic brolly. A longer handle would make it much more comfortable to use.
Still it's a fine product and worth the money, but could definitely be improved.
