HD-Dvd Excellent.5
Just wanted to leave a brief review, as I found the other review to be very harsh.

If you're a fan of Asian cinema and like monster movies, then you should love this. If you don't like reading subtitles ther'es an English Dub.

The picture and sound are a good improvement over the standard Dvd release. The picture's amazing.

There are some good extras, although not all of the extras from the 2-disc Standard Dvd are here.

Pile of Tosh1
This is the biggest pile of tosh you are ever likely to see. A mate mentioned it was a good movie another mate popped up and said whatever you do don't watch it. I listened to mate A and I can't believe I bought this on blu-ray. Imagine a giant killer cat fish on the loose in a city, after being genetically modified after chemicals are dumped in the sewer. Ohh its Korean as well not that I hold that against it but I just had the impression all the way through that they had taken one of those old Godzilla B&W movies and remade it, except where the hell was godzilla. DO NOT. REPEAT DO NOT BUY, WATCH OR EVEN CONSIDER THIS MOVIE. And don't do what I did and listen to the mate that said it was good.

What a fantastic movie!!5
What a fantastic movie!!

I came across this film late one night on Channel 4, just as I was about to hit the sack. It had just started so I didn't even know the title or know anything about it, but I was hooked: I had to stay up to watch it!

I checked the paper the next day and found the title so I could look it up on the internet. This movie was huge on its release and won a raft of awards, so I figure I'm in good company loving it so much.

I don't know what it is about this movie, maybe it was because I didn't have a clue what it was about when it flickered across the screen, but whatever it was I watched the movie again the next day too!

The movie centres around a monster that's a fabulous and pretty believable creature that just keeps on coming - it's awesomely grotesque and it just won't die! Some of the scenes are utterly and fascinatingly gruesome.

The human creatures are beautifully crafted and acted - really wonderful. Such a touching portrait of human frailty and human courage. Very touching.

Apparently there's a whole subtext about US and Korean politics and international relations, but it really isn't necessary to understand all the nuances to enjoy this movie. The monster and the humans are easily enough.

Overall the movie is really gripping and I absolutely recommend it.
