On the origns of war
As a military history student I found this book to be more useful to my studies than any of the texts suggested by my tutors.
The text is excellently written and extremly readable, something which i have found to be lacking in many other studies on the origins of wars. The sections on the first and second world wars especially, are set out chronologically and so make it easy to track the events that led to each conflict.
Finally the views that are presented by Kagan are summed up in an easy to read way in which we can see where the author believes the main aspects to the origins of wars in general to be, which can be lacking in many general texts. At the end of each mini study we are also given the authors view on the important events that led to each individual conflict which is also lacking in many specific texrs.
