The Judge's Law: Buy this guide!4

Final Fantasy Tactics is one of those rare games that can easily offer 100+ hours of gameplay. You get stats coming out of your ears. And not unsurprisingly the official strategy guide reflects this. There's over 200 pages crammed full of... well, stats! Everything is covered; towns, races, jobs, trials, equipment and the all important missions (over 300 in total).

The only downside to all this complexity is that, for beginners, the game can be daunting and difficult to get into. Unfortunately the guide doesn't help in this respect. There is an introduction of sorts on page 43 but it doesn't tell you any more than the instructions that come with the game. I guess the idea is that you experiment and learn as you go along.

So if you're new to the Final Fantasy universe or to Tactics games in general and want a beginners guide then look elsewhere. But if you're already into the game and stuck on a mission, or just want to get more from it, then this strategy guide is the ideal companion.

Ok but could be a lot better3
I've used Bradygame guides for all of the final fantasies since FFVII and all have served me well, except this one...

Maybe it's the complexity of the game but this guide is poorly organised. An index would have solved this problem.
The content is fairly thorough and comprehensive but is missing a few minute details and there are several mistakes.
As another buyer has mentioned this book doesn't explain the basics of this game so if you're new to the FFT world, this guide won't help that.
The tenner price tag doesn't help either.

This guide however, does have some useful screenshots, good maps and lovely pictures.
The guide also includes lots of tables and item lists.

All in all, a useful companion if you know where to find stuff in it but not essential
