The islands of the Galapagos, situated off the coast of Ecuador in South America, are home to some of the world's most fascinating wildlife and are visited by thousands of tourists each year. This series is designed to give visitors to far-away places a handy identification guide to the wildlife they might see as they travel around. Featuring over 350 species of wildlife most likely to be encountered on a trip to these remote islands, this traveller's guide is the ideal companion for anyone travelling to this fascinating region of the world. Although perhaps best known for its Giant Tortoises, many other mammals, reptiles, coastal and marine life, birds, plants and invertebrates are also included. Illustrated with over 550 colour photographs, maps and drawings, it also includes maps of visitors' sites and information on the history, climate, geology and conservation of the islands.

"I used the Galapagos Guide on a recent assignment and it proved
to be a winner ... these guides do come at a price, but they are an
investment worth making, as they will last forever."

Galapagos
This is the book that our guide in the Galapogos used. I am no wildlife expert and I found I was easily able to identify the birds and animals I saw using this book. Only wish I had bought it before I traveled. This book cost $45US on the ship and $35US locally. I suggest you buy from Amazon before you go.
A very handy reference guide to the Galapagos wild life
We found this book very helpful, particularly in conjunction with our guide's comments. We could check up on the wildlife he had described, which helped us to remember and to label our photos more or less correctly. On the whole the illustrations were very good and the layout clear. Unfortunately it doesn't include fish, so snorkellers need another reference book.
Galapagos visitors essential
Just returned from the Galpagos. Half the visitors in my group had this book. It is small, well organised and covers all wildlife you will encounter (apart from fish, and you are bound to snorkel, and the Godwit bird) together with useful sections on the geology and, most importantly, the sites and walks you will be taken to by your guide.
This book is a must
