This is a touching memoir of a father's love for his son
This memoir is not simply about someone dying of a brain tumor, but about courage and a young boy's amazing will to live. Johnny Gunther's extraordinary resilience can make an imprint on ones soul for as long as they live. Johnny Gunther was strickened with a life-threatening illness, he didn't just crawl into bed and await the inevitable, but he lived his life out the amazing courage and wit. In his dying days Johnny didn't crawl into bed, he applied for Harvard. This book paints a vivid picture of a family's struggle, a boy's courage, and overcoming a terrible hardship. I would recommend this boofor anybody whom wishes to be deeply touched.

DEATH BE NOT PROUD
Well I've just finished this book and find myself wanting to tell everyone I know how wonderful,brave and talented this teenager was.I feel like I know him now and I would have loved to have known him then.What Johny packed into every day of his short life-is more than I could ever wish to achieve in my lifetime!At no stage in this book did I need to cry because it was not so much sad as a celebration of the gift of life.You will not want to put the book down,you will be amazed by Johny's genious and the way he seemed to have the wisdom of someone having lived for a long time.
I only wish there had been some photographs of Johny-I wonder If he looked as I imagined?The best uplifting read Iv'e had for a long time.........Ann.
