It's not really kidnapping, is it? He'd have to be alive for it to be proper kidnapping.' Kenny, Sim and Blake are about to embark on a remarkable journey of friendship. Stealing the urn containing the ashes of their best friend Ross, they set out from Cleethorpes on the east coast to travel the 261 miles to the tiny hamlet of Ross in Dumfries and Galloway. After a depressing and dispiriting funeral they feel taking Ross to Ross will be a fitting memorial for a 15 year-old boy who changed all their lives through his friendship. Little do they realise just how much Ross can still affect life for them even though he's now dead. Drawing on personal experience Keith Gray has written an extraordinary novel about friendship, loss and suicide, and about the good things that may be waiting just out of sight around the corner ...

Customer Reviews
Brilliant, fast-paced and moving
Ostrich Boys is a brilliant, fast-paced and moving boys book. Not that girls wouldn't enjoy it, there is plenty in it which teenage girls can relate to, but it doesn't happen often to find a book which so honestly deals with teenage boys' interests.
Kenny, Sim and Blake steal their best friend's ashes to give him a proper send-off in a place he would have wanted to be. The three young men are not only chased by police, but also by memories of their dead best friend, all while being typical teenage boys. It's probably the funniest book about death I have ever read, and all with being utterly respectfull to the subject!
Just brilliant!!!!!!
Keith Gray's first book in a while and well worth the wait. Characters you'd like to sit down and have a conversation with, a plot that makes you desperate to read on, yet reluctant to come to the end too soon...funny bits, sad bits and a portrait of friendship lost and found that stays with you well beyond the moment you turn the last page.
If you read or buy one book, make it this one. You won't regret it. Ostrich Boys should put Keith's name right back up there on the short lists for some serious recognition!
