Matilda is a special little girl with magical powers. Her parents are miserable but she finds happines with Miss Honey, her teacher. It is full of adventures that allows her to escape from her parents. You can't put the book down once you have started.

Not same cover but still a great book, one of the best!4
Plot: Matilda is an intelligent little girl who can read and has been reading before she could walk! Her parents are mean to him; she is a genius but they are the stupid ones. Matilda has been dreaming about school and when she finally does go it is half a nightmare...

An amazing fact about the book connected with the author: Roald Dahl imagined being a child an again when he wrote Matilda.

Another cool comment about the book: Matilda won the Children's Book Award in 1988 and was voted most popular in 1999 on World Book Day that year!

Rating and recommendation: 7/ 10; to all Roald Dahl fans.

Brilliant5
I have always found most of Roald Dahl's books magical but Matilda was always my favorite. I'm 18 now and I still continue to find enjoyment from it.

Dahl's writing is perfect for children because it is not patronising and it doesn't claim to teach children "morals". Also it is fresh and original and stimulates the imagination.

The basic plot is that Matilda was a genius (able to talk as a baby, read fluently at 2 and use her head as a calculator) but she was stuck with monsters for parents who hated her but adored her idiotic brother. When Matilda discovers school and her anger her life changes in hilarious ways.

Matilda was always facinating to me because it was a power struggle on numerous levels between the small and the big between the powerful and the weak. I felt I was inside Matilda's head and I willed her to succeed.

Some might say her telephathy was unrealistic but what childrens book is real ,when I was younger I believed that it could truely happen. I would recommend this to any child becasue it is a classic and will always be fresh whenever you pick it up.
