best before
I nearly put the book down when I read in the first few pages that 'first of all' all cats must be neutered. Good advice, but I have a breeding queen! I read on though and found the book full of good advice. The author explains how the various 'undesirable' behaviours are linked to perfectly sensible feline behaviour. Dog meets dog: sniff, wag tail,play... cat meets cat :sniff, hiss, spit, attack, one running off. Reading the book I realized how lucky I have been with previous feline additions to the household. The author goes thtough the different scenarios of 'stressed, unhappy' cat community and gives practical (though sometimes time consuming )advice on how to overcome it. The very best advice is surely to read this book BEFORE your new cute feline heart throb enters the house.
My unneutered female may well have been 'hormonal' and that's why she went on the war path.Nevertheless, I tried some of suggestions and got feliway ... stroked one, then the other... distracting her when she was battle ready... and..and...Peace? - don't know, lets call it guarded co-existence. Nuru (the victim) is very grateful.
excellent book!
This is an excellente book about cat's adaptation to new environment, regarding new cats, other animals including humans and even new spaces! I've learned a LOT from it and I'm definitely going to recommend it to other cat lovers!
Multi cat household
I've lived in a multi-cat household for years now and although this book contains loads of tips you already know, have worked out or picked up along the way, it still has those extra bits you haven't come across.
Several tips are about things i get asked regularly from people who are introducing a new cat for the first time, usually after the newbie has been there a few weeks and the problems have started. It's a real must have guide for those who already have a multi-cat household or for those who may have in future.
