In the sea of current knitting books, precious few actually tell a woman how to use her hand-knitting skills to create something flirty and flattering that she'll love to wear - no matter what her size or shape and knitters of all sizes are desperate for intricately detailed, seemingly tailored designs. Based on the dainty and romantic garments of previous historical periods, the 25 modern and alluring designs in Romantic Hand Knits are entirely fresh. For instance, a vintage lace camisole is lengthened and reinvented as a lovely summer slip dress, while a late-eighteenth- century corset cover inspires the design for a lacy fitted top with elbow-length sleeves. This sweet and alluring style can't be contained in any one era of fashion history, but instead transcends current trends by embracing the natural form of a woman's body. With the new fibres available today, Annie has been able to knit up fabrics that create a handtailored look meaning women everywhere will be able to create fitted tops, dresses and accessories that make them feel pretty, desirable and sexy.

Customer Reviews
Not for beginners
Some nice patterns with a few lovely examples of short row shaping( esp. the skirt featured on the cover!!) Some of the patterns are not v. clear and need a bit of working out so not one 4 beginners. My other bug bear is all of the patterns use American yarns which can often be difficult to substitute in this country, there is a list of suppliers in the back and some will ship yarn to the uk but it's not cheap!!!
Romantically disinclined
So many errata for this book that I would not even attempt a single pattern. I have seen pages and pages of them floating on the ether.
I was not impressed; oddly shaped or crude armholes are a particular bete noir of mine and there are quite a few in here.
I do not find the designs 'romantic' but a bit brash and trashy.
The colouring of the garments is often a bit 'Cor blimey -Primark' too.
Theatrical, more than romantic, and a very odd film, at that. A knitted ra ra skirt is not for me, for you, not for anyone. The Bishop's Wife, is the only truly romantic design, only ruined by its name which sounds like a euphemism, and if not, then are Bishop's Wives romantic?
