Product Description

Cleary, North Carolina, is a sleepy mountain town – the kind of place where criminal activity is usually limited to parking violations. Until now. Four women have disappeared in two years. A blue ribbon left near the spot where each was last seen. There are no other clues. And now another young woman has disappeared without a trace.

Lilly Martin is trying to outrun a snowstorm when her car skids on the icy road and strikes a man as he emerges from the woods on foot. Lilly recognizes the injured man as Ben Tierney, whom she met the summer before. They’ve no choice but to wait out the storm in the cabin, but as the hours of their confinement mount, Lilly begins to wonder if the greatest danger to her safety isn’t the blizzard outside, but the mysterious man right beside her.

Great mix of sexual tension and thrills!4
Sandra Brown is back with another tightly woven thriller. Chill factor (appropriate after her last release "White Hot") takes place in the middle of a blizzard in the mountains of North Carolina. Lilly and Dutch Burton have had a rough go after losing their young daughter, Dutch is the Local small town police Chief and Lilly is a high powered magazine editor. Lilly is leaving the couples mountain get-away cabin during a Blizzard when she loses control of her car and smashes into a hiker. The hiker is good looking Ben Tierney, a freelance writer she met briefly and flirted with a year ago. Lilly has no choice but to take the injured Ben back to the cabin and wait the storm out. Over the previous year the local area has been stricken by the case of five missing women. It is after Lilly calls Dutch and tells him of her situation, that Dutch is contacted by FBI agents with evidence that Ben Tierny is the serial killer. I think we can all see the suspense to be built up in this situation, and for the most part the author carries it off. My main complaint is that some of the plot is built on some pretty shaky assumptions, but then again most books of this genre have the same problem. Nothing too heavy here, a good beach read with well drawn characters, some good sexual tension, and a couple of great plot twists. Fans of Brown will be pleased. I am also recommending "Tourist in the Yucatan" as another good thriller read. It was recommended to me by an Amazon friend and I am now "Paying it Forward." You do the same.

Totally compelling & steamy thriller5
This was my first experience of Sandra Brown, and I personally think that I could not have picked a better book as an introduction.
This book is full of twists and turns that made me want to keep turning the page. In order to finish reading the last 200 odd pages, I had to stay up until 2am!!
As other reviews have mentioned, you are never quite sure who the good guys are and who are the bad guys.
The sub plots are completely engrossing too.
Thank you Sandra Brown for creating a great read!!!
...All I need to do now is find a leading man as dynamic as the one in Chill Factor :o)

Page-turning thriller5
I loved this book. It has everything a good thriller should have and enough sub story lines to keep you guessing right to the end. A must read for all thriller fans!
