In RAYS MEARS GOES WALKABOUT Ray Mears journeys through the wilderness of the Australian Outback to learn about the people, the wildlife and the culture of this extraordinary land. He is joined by Australian survival experts who enrich his journey and deepen Rays understanding of the bushcraft of this incredible continent. These are journeys that encompass many of the themes of Rays world discovery, the natural world, indigenous culture, adventure and survival. Above all, they represent something very close to Rays heart the most important thing we can learn when travelling is to be open to new ideas, new ways of doing things, new experiences. For Ray, this is the only way to promote understanding and learning. His voyage into the wilds of Australia encompasses so many different natural habitats, with a rich indigenous culture and many tales of exploration and survival, as well all his trademark survival knowledge and wilderness tips.

Review
'The thinking man's Bear Grylls returns with a new series that shows exactly why Ray Mears is a TV presenter in a million... Mears knows his subject so well and cares about it so passionately, that he is content to let it speak for itself... A fascinating story, perfectly told, this is strangely beautiful and moving television.' --Daily Mail
'Over the years, the shows of Ray Mears have become one of those very few programmes - joining The Apprentice, Doctor Who and Peep Show - that everyone I know watches. Everyone. Siblings, parents, friends, workmates, hairdressers. A bunch of people with whom I hang out on internet chatboards and form whole society has not yet come up with a suitable noun. Everyone...
Who would not rejoice at the advent of Ray Mears Goes Walkabout?' --The Times

Customer Reviews
Walking on the Wildside...
Ray in this DVD not only goes on his walkabout with the casual ease that he puts across in his programmes, but with the help of selected friends and local people puts across situations of living in the wild from various parts of the world.
What I personally like is that Ray will go about with some of the same things like setting up camp...various ways of cooking...finding wild food...but then he'll place in little add-ons that will make you think about what he is doing and thus I feel myself that I am becoming a little involved in his presentation.
Unlike some other presenters on this kind of 'survival' programme...Ray Mears places his presentation I feel as if he is interested that we are understanding what he is trying to put over in words and actions.
In this DVD Ray also shows that as we learn something by viewing, he, himself is also learning and that by inter-acting with other people on various episodes contained within this DVD - can give anyone viewing into insights of how people from around the world live their lives within the 'Bushcraft' sphere...
I can state that for me this DVD set is well worth buying and those of you that love Ray Mears' programmes will be inclined to add it to your DVD shelf of his work...for others it may be th opening you are looking for into the sphere of bushcraft and wish to know more.
