Best self-help book
This book honestly is a book that tries to help you to divorce proof your marriage. This book is based on research on what makes couples happy and unhappy. I find it very useful as my marriage was almost on the brink of divorce and my husband would never go for counselling. This book has turned my relationship around in less than 2 weeks after applying the principles as most of the time, communication is the main problem between spouses. For less than £9, it is honestly money well spent. This book is one that I will recommend highly to friends and family. I have bought countless copies for friends and relatives.
This is a must read for anyone in a relationship.
The usefulness of the advice in this book surpasses that of virtually any "self-help" book on the market. As a psychologist in practice for over 20 years, I have never before encountered such a valuable resource, both professionally and personally. The writing is succinct and full of several examples of each idea presented. If ever there was a relationship "handbook", this is it. Moreover, the information presented has a strong research base, and the efficacy of the recommended strategies has been proven. I can't recommend this book highly enough. You will not even find anything this good in a therapist.
The best £7 you will ever spend!
I am amazed at the results after reading this book!! What a find. I was in a desperate situation, really wanted to stay with my husband but we kept reaching `rock bottom' every few months. Marriage counselling was the last thing that we wanted; we weren't comfortable with telling all of our personal issues to a complete stranger and covering the same ground that we had already discussed between us.
My husband hasn't read this book - and I won't be asking him to - however, just with me alone reading it, things improved drastically within just 3 weeks. We were discussing divorce earlier this year as we couldn't see past our problems and thought that splitting up was the only way ahead. Divorce is no longer on the cards and we are happier now than ever.
The book is based on 20 years of research, based on couples before and after marriage, happy and unhappy, and what things made their relationships successful or unsuccessful. I have found the research to be amazingly accurate and wanted to cringe when it dawned on me why we keep getting into negative spirals. The tips for overcoming problems have proven to be invaluable.
I would recommend this book to anyone, even people who are newly married and not having any problems at the moment; this book will make sure that your relationship stays this way. I wish I could buy this for all of my friends who are married or living together! If you buy this book - whether you are currently having relationship problems or want to make sure that you don't start experiencing problems in the future - you won't be disappointed!
