Murder in 1845 Manhattan!4
During the Summer of 1845, a series of murders take place in Manhattan. The victims, two small children, are found mutilated, scalped and with their livers missing. The scalping suggests to some that a native American must be involved and an angry mob focus their attentions on Chief Wolf Bear (who is one of the attractions at P.T.Barnum's American Museum.)

Edgar Allen Poe, a freind of Barnum's, becomes involved in investigating the murders when an albino man, who has requested his assistance in authenticating a document, is found murdered in exactly the same way.
He is assisted by the 'Wild West' tracker and all round hero, Kit Carson, who also want to exact revenge on this killer.

This is a great book. The characters jump off the page, especially Barnum and our narrator, Poe. Poe's first person narration, shows him to be vain, pompous and self-absorbed, but also hilariously funny.

If you are a fan of Jack the Ripper style stories, then this will be right up your street!

Good fun and well worth a look.
