Review
"Author Randall Whitehead proves that good lighting and green design go hand in hand. The book includes environmentally conscious tips on how to put together a well–designed lighting plan, room by room." (Home&Design, May/June 2009)

"Residential Lighting is a book that has certainly benefited from its second–edition treatment. Lighting technology–– particularly as it pertains to energy efficiency––has moved at a breakneck clip for most of the last decade, and Whitehead′s astute pen chronicles these changes and offers a hint of sensible prognostication about what the future holds." (residentiallighting.com, February 25th, 2009)

Customer Reviews

The definitive guide5
Having lived in houses with poor lighting and intending to build my own house I have been searching for a good book on lighting design for some time. Finally my search is over! This excellent book breaks down lighting design to its component parts and guides you step by step through what constitutes good lighting and how to choose luminaires (light fittings) and lamps (bulbs). Every room has its own dedicated chapter with case studies and examples, including the garden and the exterior of your home.

It is also refreshing to have a lighting designer who whole heartedly embraces energy saving lighting, fluorescents and LEDS. This book is aimed at the professional designer but as a lay person I found it highly informative and easy to understand
