Stafford Cliff was formerly Creative Director of the Green Design Group in London. He is the author of many books, including The Way We Live, The Way We Live Alfresco, The English Archive of Design and Decoration and The French Archive of Design and Decoration. Gilles de Chabaneix was one of France's most prominent photographers of design and lifestyle.

Excellent photographs
Gilles de Chabaneix was perhaps France's most talented design photographer. Amongst other works, he created the photographs for the six books in the Thames & Hudson series 'The Way We Live'.
I can warmly recommend all of these - especially for the photography, which rises above mere illustration. Gilles de Chabaneix had an engaging, anthropological eye which, together with esthetic clarity and technical excellence, provides a rich record of contemporary living.
