About the Author
Ethne Clarke is an internationally known garden writer and lecturer and the author of a dozen best-selling books on garden design and landscape history, including Hidcote: The making of a garden, The Gardens of Tuscany, and the literary award-winning Art of the Kitchen Garden. After nearly thirty years living and gardening in rural Norfolk, in 1998 she and her family moved to Austin, Texas, where she has transformed her backyard into a water-wise urban landscape. She and her family now live in Des Moines, Iowa, where Ethne is the Garden Editor of Traditional Home magazine. She is a Member of the Institute of Horticulture. Image © Michal Venera
