Barbara Chainey teaches patchwork and quilting on both sides of the Atlantic. Her best-selling title, The Essential Quilter, is widely considered to be a definitive quilting handbook, and The Essential Quilter's Project Book, and Quilt It! (also published by D&C) have been similarly acclaimed. She lives in Staffordshire.

great book for beginners
I bought this for a quilting friend who is just getting back to quilting after a child-raising break. I think it will give her lots of ideas to get going again, and also give her daughter some simple ideas, as she's just getting started.
