If you are studying optometry buy this book now
A very handy manual for refraction and clinical proceedures in optometry. As a final year optometry student I have carried this book with me for the past two years. It gives easy to understand instruction for all proceedures that you need to know. To find something to criticize this book for I would suggest that a few more pictures to demonstrate what some of the instruments mentioned look like, e.g.stereoacuity tests, would be useful. The best all round clinical text book for a student that has to carry books around campus. Clear, concise, lightweight.

Good book but wordy
This is a good book, very wordy but detail is the key to success. I didn't find all the explainations the easiest to understand and this book is written with the perspective of how they teach optometry at Bradford. However if you are at another university in the UK the technique taught may not be the same as elliot. I found Esperji book clearer and easier to use in the lab. - I don't attend Aston so I think this is an impartial view. Have a good look at both books as they are very well written and decide which id the best for you don't take the lecturers word for it

if you only buy one book as an optometry student..
buy this one! Out of all the books I've bought, this has been by far the most useful. Great in a clinical setting and for revision purposes. As an optometry student at Bradford, this book was highly reccommended by our course tutor who happens to be the author, but even with an unbiased view this is one to buy. And its relatively cheap!
