A favourite when I was a teen5
Van Vogt was my favourite author in my teens and this was the first of his novels that I read. It is actually short stories linked together in a Star Trek like context. Some say that this book inpired Star Trek. Don't let that put you off however, there are no inanities like "Beam me up Scottie" in here. Van Vogt was also one of the most popular authors in the Golden Age but for some reason his popularity has fallen off nowadays. His stories tend to have heroes that teenagers identify with but they are written for the adult market.
