A life-changing book!5
Waking the Dead was for me a life-changing read. It spoke so deeply into the struggles which we as Christians experience in life; the 'I know I am saved, but why so often does if feel like I'm in the middle of a battle?' issues. Well, this wonderful book gives it to us straight: the fact is, we are in a fierce battle for our hearts, and our enemy wants us to give up, or at best just limp through life. On the other hand, our wonderful Lord wants to 'give us life in all its fullness', and John Eldredge is passionate about making us understand that we need to fight for our hearts. The book begins with a great quote from St Irenaus, who clearly was on the same wavelength: he says, 'The Glory of God is man fully alive'. Absolutely!! I personally am desperate for that kind of life, and for me, this fantastic and inspirational book hugely helped me on the way to trying to grasp hold of it.

AT LAST A BOOK TO SHOW WHO WE REALLY ARE.5
Make no mistake this is an profoundly important book for the searching christian. With many christian books you are waiting for a real feast of revelation, much of the time feeling you must have missed something. THIS IS NO SUCH BOOK! Make sure you make time - for long walks, you'll need them - as sometimes you will only be able to read three quartres of a page before you are sent reeling with love and gratitude and needing to take on board this message. Read it, use it, find out CHRISTIAN who YOU are!!!

Waking the dead5
At last a Christian author who's down to earth and has the added bonus of original thought! Enjoyed Wild at Heart and Waking the Dead, both of which had something to say that was and is valuable, applicable and speaks on a fundamental level to the reader. As a thirtysomething I felt that with John Eldredge I have an ally and his references are not from some dusty tomme but from Star Wars or some other source that I could relate to from a fresh angle and perspective. Very affirming and encouraging. Highly recommended!!!!
