In this second of three volumes of Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus, Brown takes up twenty-eight of the most weighty objections raised against Jesus. These are real questions and real answers, formed by years of dialogue with rabbis and religious Jews. Some objections include: * Jews don't believe in the Trinity. We believe in one God, not three. * God doesn't have a son. * The Christian concept of salvation is contrary to the Hebrew Bible and Jewish tradition. Jews don't need saving. * Jews don't believe in a suffering Messiah. Brown shows how New Testament teaching on the nature of God and the divinity of the Messiah is in harmony with the Hebrew Scriptures, how blood sacrifices joined with repentance were the heart and soul of the Torah's system of atonement, and how Yeshua fulfilled a lofty Jewish concept, bringing atonement to the world through his death. As with Brown's earlier volume, this rich resource comes thoroughly referenced with notes and includes a glossary, subject index, and index of Scripture and other ancient writings. It is a necessity for anyone involved in Jewish-Christian dialogue or apologetics.

Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus
This is a fantastic set of books. I have got volumes 1 to 4 and am eagerly waiting for volume 5 to be published. Dr. Michael Brown is a very knowledgeable and very intelligent Messianic Jew who is active in Jewish evangelism. He debates Orthodox rabbis on radio, TV, and college campuses across the world. He is a published Old Testament and Semitic scholar, holding a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Literatures from New York University. These books certainly do answer the objections that Orthodox Jews have regarding Jesus as the promised Messiah and I highly recommend them. Dr. Michael Brown also has a DVD series of these books which I also recommend.
Strawmen and not much else
Brown doesn't actually address the Jewish objections- what he does is construct strawmen which he then demolishes. Not too difficult when you are the one inventing the thing you are refuting. Overall it fails to address the jewish objections and is just another set of Christian beliefs put across in a way to try and make them seem as if they are somehow relevant to thise not knowledgeable enough to know otherwise.
Apologetics
This series of books (Vols. 1,2&3) are primarily aimed at Jewish readers and written by a Messianic Jew. However, the scope is much wider. It is a "must" for any serious student of the Bible as it intricately links both the Tanakh (Old Testament) to the B'rit Hadashah (New Testament). The books provide a clear Christain apologetic and is well written. Each section starts with an objection/question and is followed by a brief rebuttal then an in-depth study of the topic. Unlike most apologetic books, these are actually easier to read and great benefit can be had by both the casual student or serious scholar.
Well worth adding to the shopping basket.
