Product Description

Bursting with exuberance and vibrancy, Leslie Marshall lures us into a child's world of imagination and lawlessness, a place in which all sense of normality is lost, until it is time to fall in love. In the unique character of Elray Mayhew she has surely created one of literature's most unforgettable heroines.

Disfunctional Families Rule!!5
I've had this on my mountain of books to be read for a while but when I finally picked it up, I loved it. Elray is so beautifully portrayed, as are her family and friends, that this was one of those books I didn't want to end... Please, please, Leslie Marshall write many many more as the fast and furious action, the crazy lifestyle and the tension of the final confrontations had me laughing, crying and loving it.... Brilliant!

Humourous and unforettable5
The book begins with a little girl screaming under the porch and goes on to tell the tale of why she came to be in that state. It was a brilliant read, well written, humorous and one I have thought about many times since finishing. The main character, a young girl, comes to live with her 2 outrageous uncles and the story is about her life so far and how she copes in such a vibrant if not slightly crazy household. An excellent read, well recommended. I lost my copy and bought a second to make sure, if I ever get round to rereading it, that I have it on hand.

A wonderful read buy imediately!5
This is a great book if you are fond of a heart warming, if slightly mad, read. Marshall is an insightful awful who brings her extremely colourful characters to light so well that you can practically see them breathing. I throughly recommend this book, particularly if you are a fan of Anita Shreve's 'Light on Snow' or any book by John Irving.
