Excellent uses repeating words with an element of surprise
Good use of repeating words, building up the anticipation and then adding an element of surprise. The other animals are asleep apart from the flea, and bit by bit we see the flea building up to a sneeze. The names of the other animals are repeated often in the same order, but move around in the illustrations giving interest to where each one is sleeping next. The flea finally sneezes waking everyone up, you would think the story is over. But no, another animal is about to sneeze, who is it?

The story line and illustrations are loved by my two year old, who always joins in with the sneeze. I think it is a great story to both read to a child and for a child to read and enjoy by themselves. It is lots of fun.
